CWC professor is Master Distance Educator

January 1, 2012

Central Wyoming College Professor Angel Sparkman was presented with a Master Distance Educator Award at the Wyoming Distance Education Consortium spring conference held recently in Cody.

Sparkman was one of eight instructors from the state’s community colleges and the University of Wyoming recognized for their talents as distance educators. When the Sparkman family moved back home to Mississippi last year, Angel continued to teach for CWC fulltime, using a variety of distance delivery methods including podcasts.

Sparkman has been active in the college’s selection of learning management systems to improve distance delivery and is testing a new system this summer. Though her business and accounting students are far away, she has developed an online community where students get to know her personally though they have never met.
