Drag a cappella group at CWC Feb. 21

January 1, 2012

Kinsey Sicks, a “drag a cappella beautyshop quartet” performs at Central Wyoming College’s Little Theatre at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

The unique group performs “Electile Dysfunction: The Kinsey Sicks for President” after it premiered Feb. 4 at a Washington, D.C. theater that commissioned the work. The performance, intended for mature audiences, is free and open to the public.

Sponsored by CWC student organizations and the Diversity Committee, the Kinsey Sicks premiere of the show was the launch of their campaign to become the first “Dragapella Beautyshop Quartet to win the Republican nomination for President.” The group is performing in Tampa during the Republican Convention.

The act was hatched in 1993 when the four dressed as the Andrew Sisters at a Bette Midler concert. A promoter watched as the quartet hammed it up and asked them to perform in four-part harmony. The group has performed all over the country, off Broadway and in Las Vegas. They have recorded six CDs and have been profiled on  NBC’s 20/20 and the CBS Early Show.
