First Hot Notes concert in Riverton July 2

January 1, 2012

The Central Wyoming College summer band performs patriotic and American classics at its first concert Monday, July 2 at Riverton City Park.

The “Hot Notes Cool Nights” concerts are scheduled every Monday through August 6, alternating between the city parks in Lander and Riverton. The featured artist for the first concert is pianist, composer and arranger Tom Amend of Riverton who will bring along a “company” to entertain the audience.  Amend is entering his senior year at Riverton High School.

Under the direction of Robert Hussa, the band will perform appropriate music to celebrate Independence Day, from America the Beautiful to Armed Forces on Parade.

The band’s theme remains the same for the July 9 concert in Lander’s City Park though the guest artists will be Peter Queal and Friends. Queal is a Laramie-based jazz guitarist and vocalist who incorporates a multitude of musical styles into his work.

In the event of rain, the Riverton concerts will be moved to the Robert A. Peck Arts Center Gallery. In Lander, the alternate location is the Community Center.
