Five slots open for CWC expedition to Gannett Peak

January 1, 2012

Five slots have opened for Central Wyoming College’s expedition to Gannett Peak, which is scheduled for August 8-19.

“It really is a fantastic adventure learning opportunity at a very good price,” said Outdoor
Education Professor Darran Wells, who leads the expedition to Wyoming’s highest peak.
For the cost of tuition for four credits and a $290 fee, Wyoming students can join the guided climb of Gannett for $658. The fees cover meals, transport, group equipment, instruction and permits. Students must be 16 or older.

Participants may take it for no college credit and the cost is reduced to $325 regardless of state residency.

For the first time, Wells has obtained permission from the U.S. Forest Service to hike out at Green River Lakes, which he said makes the route significantly shorter and easier in the past.
