McFall wins travel award at national conference

January 1, 2012

Central Wyoming College graduate Jonathon McFall was the recipient of an IDeA Development Award for Student Travel at the fourth biennial National IDeA Symposium of Biomedical Research Excellence (NISBRE.)

The award is intended for students involved in biomedical research and provided $1,000 to help defray the cost of attending the Washington, D.C. conference held June 25-27.

McFall, a member of the CWC undergraduate research team studying West Nile Virus in Fremont County, was presented the award by Dr. Sidney A. McNairy, Jr., and Patricia Hand of the Mount Desert Island Biological Center. He was the only recipient from a community college and the award was based on a meritorious abstract he submitted and a poster presentation.

Science Professor Steve McAllister accompanied members of the team to the conference where scientists and students shared ideas and scientific investigation
