First summer concert in Lander

The Central Wyoming College summer band performs patriotic and American classics at its first Hot Notes Cool Nights concert Monday, July 1 at Lander City Park.

The concerts are scheduled every Monday through August 5 at 7 p.m, alternating between the city parks in Lander and Riverton. All the concerts are free and open to everyone. There will be food available for purchase.

The featured artist for the first concert is String Theory, a Lander group of string and vocal musicians. Under the direction of CWC’s new instrumental band instructor Jason Ogg, the band will perform appropriate music to celebrate Independence Day.

On July 8, the concert in Riverton City Park features the Tom Amend Quartet. The theme of the first concert in Riverton is “And All that Jazz.”

The Fremont County Orchestra is the guest of the July 15 summer concert in Lander, and “Symphonic Sounds” is the theme for the evening.

The Tremors, a duo from Casper, are the guests of the July 22 concert in Riverton and children’s songs will be played by the concert band. Buffalo Bill Boycott and his band perform at the July 29 concert in Lander, which features music of the Wild West.

Music lovers may suggest tunes for the band to play at the final concert in Riverton on August 5 by making requests at www.cwc.edu/choice. The featured entertainers are former national flatpicking champion Jeff Troxel, and the rest of his trio: Trevor Krieger and Collin Ingram.

In the event of rain, the Riverton concerts will be moved to the Robert A. Peck Arts Center Gallery. In Lander, the alternate location is the Museum of the American West.

The band is performing in the Fourth of July Parade in Lander as well as the Fremont County Fair Parade in Riverton on July 27.
