Special guest musicians perform at CWC Jazz Night

January 1, 2013

Several guest musicians lend their talents to Central Wyoming College’s big band, Time’s-A-Wastin’, at the fall Jazz Night concert Thursday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Robert A. Peck Arts Center Theatre.

The guests include former CWC music professors Kelly Dehnert and Steve Traylor who are invited back to campus to be part of the 30th anniversary celebration of the Arts Center, said director Jason Ogg.

“We’re going to have a lot of folks sitting in,” Ogg said of the guests, which includes local music educators Aric Hageman, Zach Tolman and Chad Rose. Also on the stage will be Jeff Troxel, the 2003 National Flatpicking Guitar champion from Cody.

The big band will be playing “Jalapeno Dreams” by Denis DeBlasio, “Splanky” by Neal Hefti, “Top Daddy” by Matt Harris, and Mark Taylor’s arrangement of Lester Young’s “Lester Leaps In.”

Ogg is also planning to “serve up a special treat” with the guest artists. The concert is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
