CWC offers tax assistance on campus, Lander

January 1, 2014

Former and current Central Wyoming College accounting and income tax students provide free help preparing 2013 taxes to taxpayers that cannot afford professional assistance on the CWC campus Wednesdays from Feb. 19 through April 2.

The students of Accounting Instructor Willie Noseep are providing the help from 6:30-8 p.m. in room 214 of CWC’s Health and Science Center on Wednesday evenings Feb. 19, Feb. 26, March 5, 12, 26, and April 2. Tax assistance is not available on Wednesday, March 19 due to Spring Break.

The service is also provided in Lander on Tuesday, Feb. 18 and March 4 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the CWC Lander Center, 427 Main Street.

In cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, CWC is one of the many Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites around the country. VITA volunteers assist low income, elderly, and disabled taxpayers with their tax returns. The income limit is approximately $52,000 to qualify for the free service.

Taxpayers needing assistance should bring their 2013 tax package, all wage and earning statements (Form W-2), all interest statements (Form 1099), information for all deductions/credits, proof of account for direct deposit or refund (voided check), Social Security cards for dependents and/or spouse, birth date of all dependents and any other relevant information about income and expenses. A proof of identification is also needed.
