CWC online professor wins Master Distance Educator award

January 1, 2014

Central Wyoming College Professor Val Whitmore was presented with a Master Distance Educator Award at the Wyoming Distance Education Consortium spring conference held recently in Cheyenne.

Whitmore was one of eight instructors from the state's community colleges and the University of Wyoming recognized for their talents as distance educators. A math instructor at CWC since 2001, Whitmore began teaching online full-time this past year from her Kemmerer home. She is implementing a model for courses directed toward students who appear to be unprepared for college-level math.

Whitmore assists other CWC instructors in the use of the institution's learning management system to improve distance delivery. She also has developed multiple methods of communicating with students one-on-one to ensure their success.
