Wyoming PBS Awarded Two Regional Emmy's

Wyoming PBS, located on the Central Wyoming College campus, is proud to announce the receipt of two Rocky Mountain Regional Emmy awards for its powerful documentary "One Hundred Years on the Lincoln Highway" on October 18, 2014.  The documentary was submitted for "Best Historical Documentary" written by Tom Manning (former Wyoming PBS producer) and Kyle Nicholoff (Director, Post Production).  Filming was done over a year from the beginning of Manning's writing and includes footage shot in the summer of 2013.


The Lincoln Highway was the first continuous highway from New York to San Francisco – a conglomeration of roads,  including ranch roads, pre-existing highways, railroad beds, etc. , that became the first route to span the continent.   The highway celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2013 with a centennial  tour put together by the Lincoln Highway Association – a group of car and history enthusiasts. The enthusiasts traveled in two groups – one from New York and one from San Francisco and met halfway in Kearney, NE in June 2013.  Nicholoff and a former Central Wyoming College student, Shawn Fagnant, embarked upon a 1000 mile trip from Evanston to Cheyenne along the original route.  They followed and documented the group and their antique cars for five days stopping at historical markers (hotels, motels, historical sites).  The documentary encompasses the historical background of the highway blended with interviews of the modern-day trip.


"This is quite an honor," stated Nicholoff, "as it is voted upon and judged by our peers from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS)."   The program first aired during the Wyoming PBS pledge drive in March 2014.  Comments and feedback have been phenomenal.  "We are very proud of the individuals who created this 60 minute program.  It truly highlights an amazing part of Wyoming history," said Wyoming PBS General Manager Ruby Calvert.  Calvert presented the Central Wyoming College Board of Trustees with their personal copy of the program at the October Board of Trustees meeting.  The program is available for download on the Wyoming PBS site.
