December 5, 2016 by Laura Phagan

The lady Rustlers were leading the way Friday Dec. 2 against Eastern Wyoming College but the game tightened by the third quarter with the Rustlers struggling to keep the lead resulting in a loss; 66-60.

Leading in double digits was Loveeda White with 15 followed by teammates Atajma Criss-Felton with 14 and Kyla Paulus with 10. The ladies played 70 percent for free throws while Eastern only played 53.6 percent.

Both teams were evenly matched in rebounds and brought down 48 rebounds each but Eastern played 25 for 61 field goals making that a 41 percent conversion while the Rustlers only played 27 percent in field goals.

I’m really proud of the ladies, we just couldn't get it done this game. We didn't execute our stuff late in the game and that killed us. Loveeda White had another good night with 15 points and six rebounds. ”

Ken Swartz, head coach

On Saturday, the lady Rustlers took on Western Nebraska Community College; 86-62. Criss-Felton brought in 16 points and Paulus brought in 18 points for the team; the only two to score in double digits. The team played well above their opponent in free throws and shot 17 of 20 converting to 85 percent. WNCC played 63.2 percent but had a better average in field goals, 52.3 percent, where the Rustlers only played 38.9 percent.

"This team beat us 59 points last time,” Swartz said. “We played them and I think this game showed our heart and how much we wanted to compete. To play them that well is great to see when we could have just given up before the game even started. The girls played well and are continuing to progress.
