Seasoned foodies, aspiring epicureans, supporters of Central Wyoming College and anyone interested in great food and company are invited to attend a Community Dinner hosted by the fourth annual Jackson Hole Culinary Conference on Friday, Nov. 4 at 6pm at the Snow King Lodge Ballroom.

Dinner is open to the public and features a multi-course meal with select wine pairings.  Highlighting local ingredients, each dish is prepared by a prominent chef who is assisted by CWC culinary students.  Presented by CWC and the Wyoming Lodging and Restaurant Education Foundation in conjunction with the JH Culinary Conference, tickets for the Community Dinner are $80 per person and can be purchased on-line at www.jhculinaryconference.com/register, with proceeds to benefit the CWC culinary students’ scholarship program.

In keeping with the Conference theme: “From Classroom to Community,” two local chefs will share their insight and experience on how their culinary education prepared them for success in the field in a casual discussion during the dinner.  Regional high school culinary educators will be dining as part of the three day JH Culinary Conference, and will learn first-hand skills and training that are most critical in encouraging their students that education in the culinary arts can lead to a viable and rewarding vocation.

In addition to highlighting hospitality career paths, the conference is packed with educational hands-on workshops, demonstrations, lectures, tours and receptions every day from Nov. 3-5.

Drawing from a variety of cuisines, methods and ingredients, the conference targets high school culinary educators throughout Wyoming and the surrounding states.

By working in a commercial kitchen setting the attendees benefit from an accelerated learning environment, gaining hands-on instruction and networking with their peers. ”

Amy Madera, CWC’s director of culinary and hospitality

This year the conference provides expertise from: Chef Charles Youts, Chef Adam Steen, Chef Nancy Rutherford, Ryan Reynolds, Tim Miner, Kathi Zollman and RuthAnn Petroff.  Topics cover a wide array of interests and include wine Tasting and pairing, fermenting, creative cooking with coffee, and sushi; while delving into classroom matters such as training tactics for both new and seasoned teachers as well as perspectives in the hospitality industry.

“Partnering with CWC allows for an unparalleled opportunity for high school educators to network with each other while earning professional development credits towards renewing their teaching certification,” said Jill Duval, director of the Wyoming Lodging and Restaurant Association Education Foundation.

Outside of the kitchen and the classroom, tours of Vertical Harvest and Jackson Hole Winery will showcase community based culinary businesses. Coming full circle, CWC’s own culinary students will be assisting throughout the conference and Community Dinner, reinforcing their passion for the industry.
