Ending the season with the second lowest score in the NJCAA Region IX golf season proved well for freshman Sarah Schroefel. Her score qualified her for nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida which will be May 16-19.

“I’m really proud of her and for a program to only be in existence for a few years, this shows the potential of what our program can do,” said Pat Rafferty, head golf coach.

Only one individual from each region can qualify to go to nationals. Schroefel competed in about 14 tournaments which is about 28 rounds of golf in the season.

She’s been focused throughout the season and has been consistent all year. That’s what you have to be. ”

“She’s very deserving of making nationals and the proof shows in how well she shot,” Rafferty said.

Schroefel was also practicing and competing with teammate Kristen Day who also had a great season; only a few strokes ahead of Schroefel throughout the season.
