Aaron Strubhar is from Washington, Illinois and is the CWC outdoor education and leadership, expedition science and geospatial information science programs.

“I chose CWC for the location,” he said. “I wanted to be close to the mountains. The outdoor education major was also a unique major, that I feel, fits my goals well.”

Strubhar said he likes how CWC’s instructor from Expedition Science are committed to getting students in the field to have hands-on experiences with collecting scientific data and working with that data in GIS software.

Strubhar isn’t quite sure what his next steps will be after CWC but he knows that someday he would love to be an educator. In his free time, Strubhar enjoys rock climbing, mountain biking and fishing. He is a member of the climbing and cycling club.

Strubhar was nominated by faculty member Jacki Klancher, assistant professor of environmental health.

Aaron is a part of CWC's Expedition Science program and a member of the Interdisciplinary Climate Change Expedition. Aaron can be counted on to dig deep, problem solve and volunteer his time to get tasks completed professionally and conscientiously. Aaron is curious, pleasant, eager, non-complaining and a delight to have in class and in the field. His commitment to the task at hand, his attention to follow through, and a timely mix of aptitude and attitude make Aaron a delight to work with. ”
