The employees, students, and campus community at Central Wyoming College were saddened to learn of the passing of their wonderful friend and colleague, Mrs. Kathy Vincent, April 13, 2020. Kathy was a cherished member of the college community for 29 years, serving most recently as the Director of Adult Education and High School Equivalency for 20 years.

Kathy was known throughout the CWC service area in Fremont, Teton, and Hot Springs Counties by her students and staff, as a warm and encouraging individual who would tirelessly pursue opportunities for her students to achieve their educational dreams. She assisted more than 2,000 individuals in accomplishing their goal of achieving their high school equivalency credentials.

"Kathy was a wonderful, kind lady. She was always willing to listen and share. Many have received their GED through her and her competent staff. Prayers for her family and for those whose lives she touched," said Ivan Posey, director, CWC Institute of Tribal Learning.

I had the great pleasure of working for Kathy for many years. In fact, several faculty had their start in Adult Basic Education/General Equivalency Diploma (ABE/GED.) She was more than a boss, she was a great friend. Her impact on CWC and the community is immeasurable. Her commitment to helping students was unmatched. I still remember fondly the days, no weeks, we would spend getting ready for GED graduation. She knew how important an event it was for students and their families. I feel like there is a huge hole in the heart of CWC right now. ”

Steve McAllister, Professor of Biology

As is stated in Kathy's obituary, Kathy retired from CWC on January 31, 2019. Shortly after, she was diagnosed with ALS. Kathy confronted the diagnosis with the attitude that she would try to make every day a good day, and in that she was successful.

We wish our wonderful friend and colleague peace. We are forever grateful for the loving, dedicated years of service to CWC, our students, and our community members. She will be greatly missed.  We extend our sympathy to the Vincent family and all who are grieving her loss.
