Rustlers Secure Sweep to Open Region Play

Central Wyoming College men’s basketball brought their current win streak to eight games this past weekend as they defeated Little Big Horn on Friday 124-50, coming back the next afternoon to beat Miles 92-71.  

In Friday’s contest, six players reached double figures led by Alihan Demir’s 20 points. Lake Del Mar came off the bench to record his first career double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. On Saturday, all five starters scored in double figures. Local products Chris Quayle and Marcus Nolan had 17 and 15 points, respectively, while Irshaad Hunte came away with yet another double-double performance of 15 points and 10 rebounds.

It is great to get off to a 2-0 start in region play. We were able to get some guys some extra minutes which meant that we could rest some of our guys that play heavier minutes. That could prove valuable as we work into the later parts of the season. ”

The Rustlers now hit the road to take on the No. 12 nationally ranked Gillette Pronghorns tooday, Jan. 18. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm following the women’s game which starts at 5:30p. A live stream of the game can be viewed at gcpronghorns.com/video/.  

The team will return home to play this Saturday, Jan. 21 versus rival Casper College. Women will tip-off at 3pm, with the men starting at 5pm.
