Kelsey Nelson liked the atmosphere at CWC and after receiving the Hathaway scholarship she knew CWC was the college for her. Nelson is in the secondary education program and after she graduates in May she will transfer to the University of Wyoming to earn a bachelor’s degree.

I wanted a career where I could have fulfillment helping others. Education seemed like a good career where I could help others. ”

Nelson said the support of her friends and family have helped her pursue her college education goals. In her free time she enjoys the outdoors with her dog and spending time with her boyfriend. She was nominated by Colleen Bartlett, professor of education.

“Kelsey is a great student who works very hard in her classes and sets high goals for herself,” Bartlett said. “In addition to her classes on campus she is currently spending time in a middle school classroom as part of her practicum learning more about becoming a science teacher. In class Kelsey offers interesting ideas and works well with other students. I have really enjoyed having her in class.”
