Tara Cottrill came to CWC because of the equine program. She had a dream to do equine therapy. Although Cottrill changed her major to secondary education and criminal justice, her dream of doing equine therapy is still a passion of hers and something she wants to do later in life.

I love working with children and math and I would like to help students be successful in math. I knew that secondary education would be a better direction for me directly after college. ”

Cottrill will graduate this May and will transfer to the University of Wyoming to complete a bachelor’s degree in education with a double major in math.

Cottrill is on the golf team, a student ambassador, a deputy recruiter and works and the equine center. Cottrill is also doing an education practicum at the middle school working with seventh graders.

In her free time she enjoys photography, skiing, riding horses, golfing, reading and playing with her puppy.

Cottrill was nominated by Paula Hartbank, education/transfer coach.

“I really enjoy working with her, and I think she is a huge asset to our campus,” Hartbank said. “She is easily one of the most likable people, and she genuinely cares for every individual she meets. She gives enthusiasm and excitement to everything she does, and gives the admissions group a much-needed boost of positivity. All of her tour groups have absolutely loved her as she makes them feel important and very welcome. Admissions staff have said if they could have about 10 more of her, that would be wonderful.”
