Portrait of Colton Rydstrom

Colton Rydstrom, a sophomore from Kemmerer, Wyoming, is in his first year of the nursing program and is on track to graduate in May of 2020.

Originally from South Dakota, Rydstrom moved to Kemmerer while he was in high school. He decided he wanted to go into healthcare after watching some of his aunts, uncles and cousins work in that field.

“I thought it would be fun,” Rydstrom said.

Rydstrom came to CWC specifically for the nursing program, and it has only fueled his drive to become a nurse.

“The nursing program blew me away,” Rydstrom said.

Rydstrom is particularly excited about the variety of careers available in the field of nursing.

I like the opportunities that are offered, and there are so many. ”

When he isn’t in class or studying, Rydstrom works as a deputy recruiter for the college. He also enjoys staying active by swimming and playing soccer.

Rydstrom was nominated by Patrick Edwards, director of admissions.

“Colton comes to CWC from Kemmerer Wyoming,” Edwards said. “He attended CWC last year and applied to the nursing program. He was accepted into the program and is managing working there and working as a deputy recruiter. Students love getting campus tours from Colton and he is a very hard working young man.”
