Math plays a huge role in our lives. As a mathematician, you can make lasting contributions to society by helping solve problems in such diverse fields as medicine, management, economics, government, computer science, physics, psychology, engineering and social science.
Our mathematics program is characterized by a balance between theory and application. Appropriate technology is integrated at all levels of the curriculum. Employment of math occupations is projected to grow 28% from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for most occupations, resulting in about 42,900 new jobs. Businesses will need mathematicians to analyze the increasing volume of digital and electronic data. Math occupations had a median annual wage of $80,270 in May 2014, which was higher than the median annual wage for all occupations of $35,540.
